Farmers and gardeners facing the challenges of disability, aging, or chronic health conditions are invited to a free workshop on Tuesday, June 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 822 Fair Rd, Sidney, Ohio. The event will focus on practical strategies and tools that allow individuals to continue farming and gardening safely and efficiently, regardless of physical limitations.

Titled “Farming and Gardening with a Disability,” the program is designed for those dealing with arthritis, mobility issues, low vision, or other health-related conditions. Participants will learn good habits, ergonomic techniques, adaptive tools, and universal design solutions to make farm and garden work more accessible.

The session will cover how to modify equipment, tools, facilities, buildings, and work processes to fit individual needs, helping attendees work smarter, not harder. Whether you're already facing physical challenges or planning for the future, this program will offer valuable insights and resources.

The event is presented by Ohio AgrAbility, a USDA-supported program that promotes independence and success for farmers who have experienced disabling conditions. Ohio AgrAbility provides no-cost services including on-site farm assessments, technical assistance, peer support, safety training, and guidance on funding resources.

Through a partnership between The Ohio State University and EasterSeals Redwood, Ohio AgrAbility connects agricultural communities with the knowledge and tools needed to stay active and productive in farming—despite physical barriers. The program supports individuals recovering from injuries as well as those living with chronic or degenerative conditions.

Join us June 11 to learn how to continue doing the work you love—on the farm or in the garden—safely and sustainably.
