What is the Ohio State University Extension?

It is an informal educational organization that is funded by federal, state and local government dollars.  Ohio State University Extension groups its programs into four major areas: Family and Consumer Science, Community Development, 4-H Youth Development, and Agriculture and Natural Resources.  The actual educational programs cut across these groupings and often stretch the conventional definition of each.  Here is a brief overview of what the Family and Consumer Science's program offers.

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES

    • Building strong families through parent education and family living skills.
    • Improving nutrition, lifestyle, and food safety choices.
    • Managing time, money, and other resources.
    • Addressing community health, wellness, and environmental concerns.
    • Managing multiple roles.
